Dow Park Pool

General Pool Information
281-478-2055

The City of Deer Park prioritizes the health and safety of employees, patrons and residents above all else. We have continually practiced strong social distancing and hygiene procedures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in City facilities.

Recently, an individual directly associated with a Parks and Recreation Department program at the Dow Park Pool tested positive for COVID-19. Due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Protected Health Information laws, the City is not able to provide identifying information.

City officials have reviewed potential contact the individual had with staff and members of the public, and out of an abundance of caution, have elected to close the Dow Park Pool and to cancel all classes at the facility through Tuesday, July 28, effective immediately.

Classes to be cancelled include Swim Lessons (Session 3), Private Swim Lessons (Session 6) and Aqua Zumba (Session 2) from Wednesday, July 22 through Sunday, July 26. Additionally, practice for the Seals and Blast swim teams will be cancelled during this time. The pool will be closed for regular maintenance on Monday, July 27.

Additional information regarding the ongoing operation of the Dow Park Pool will be provided via City outlets including the City website – www.deerparktx.gov – and the Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page, facebook.com/deerparktx.parksandrecreation.

We apologize for any inconvenience - this decision was made with the health and safety of our employees, patrons and residents in mind.

Weather Policy

If lightning is detected within an 8-mile radius of the Dow Park Pool, the Aquatics professional staff will inform persons in the pool areas.  Once pool patrons have been informed of the lightning situation they will have the option of leaving the pool or staying until the weather clears. If patrons choose to leave the pool, they should not use showers or land line telephones, and Lifeguards will be trained to provide this information to patrons, as appropriate.

If a severe weather warning is received from the City of Deer Park Emergency Services or another reliable weather source indicating a severe thunderstorm/tornado is present in the area and patrons should take cover, Dow Park patrons will be evacuated to a safe zone(s). The lifeguards, swim lesson instructors, aquatic supervisor and/or group fitness class instructor will instruct patrons to leave the pool and take shelter in the pool locker rooms. Once an all clear is received patrons will be allowed to return to the pool.

You may choose to call the Deer Park Community Center or Dow Park Pool prior to driving to the building if you are coming for swimming lessons. Please call 281-478-2050 OR 281-478-2055 for information concerning lessons and severe weather closures. Unless there is a severe weather warning, we will stay open for swimming lessons! Instructors are not guaranteed and will be assigned based on availability.
