Boards & Commissions
There are currently five boards and commissions consisting of citizens who have expressed their desire to serve the city and citizens by volunteering their time.
Those boards and commissions are:
- Board of Health
- Library Board of Trustees
- Parks and Recreation Commission
- Planning and Zoning Commission/Board of Adjustment
- Senior Citizens Commission
Terms
The terms for the boards and commissions are usually two-year alternating terms and the members are appointed by the City Council per the Policy and Procedures for Boards and Commissions. The policy has been updated as of October 2022.
An application is required for four of the boards and can be downloaded and provided to the City Secretary for submission to the Boards and Commission Appointment Committee for recommendation to City Council. Applications are only accepted for board openings that are published.

BOARD POSITIONS OPENING
Starting May 4, 2023, the City of Deer Park is accepting applications for one position as an alternate on the Planning & Zoning/Board of Adjustment Board due to a recent vacancy. The board meets the first Monday of each month at 6:28 pm. The deadline for submitting an application is June 5, 2023.
Starting May 19, 2023, the City of Deer Park is accepting applications for one position on the Library Board of Trustees due to a recent vacancy. The board meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm. The deadline for submitting an application is June 20, 2023. You can complete the application various ways:
- Download and fill out the PDF file, have it notarized then email it back to amsmith@deerparktx.org;
- Stop by City Secretary’s office in person to pick up a printed copy (we provide notary service;
- Print and complete the PDF file, have it notarized; then drop it off at the City Secretary’s office 710 E. San Augustine, Deer Park, TX 77536 or
- Mail to City of Deer Park, Attn: City Secretary, P.O. Box 700, Deer Park, TX 77536 the completed application and criminal background check form. If mailed, the packet must be received by 5:00 pm in the City Secretary’s office on the due date listed above.
