Library Cards

Who Can Get a Card?

Library cards are issued free of charge to Texas residents. Children under 18 must obtain parent or legal guardian signature on application. Cards are valid for 3 years and renewed free of charge.  

Applicants, including children, must be present at the Library to obtain a library card.

What Do I Need to Get a Card?

You must provide written proof of address at the time you apply for a library card. This can be one of the following:

• Texas Photo ID or Driver’s License with correct mailing/physical address
• When ID/TDL is incorrect, you must also provide two (2) proofs of correct address:
  • Utility bills
  • Lease/mortgage agreements
  • Auto/home insurance documents
  • Checkbook
  • Mailed items with correct address (printed, not handwritten)

Required Information on Application

The following information is mandatory on the library card application:

• Name, phone number and complete address (must include physical address if P.O. Box is given)
• Reference name and phone number of any person who does not live with you. This can be a friend, neighbor or relative.
• Work phone number (if applicable)
• Signature (parent/legal guardian for those under 18)

Note on Patron Responsibility

You are responsible for material checked out on your library card. Parent or legal guardian is responsible for materials checked out on a card for a person under 18 years of age. Please be aware of this before you loan your card to another person. If your card is lost or stolen, please report it to the library immediately.
