  1. Thanksgiving Holidays - City Services Closed

    November 22, 2018 - November 23, 2018

    City facilities will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holidays. There will not be curbside collection of rubbish on these days. Service will resume on your next regular collection day following the holidays. Garbage should not be placed out for pick up earlier than 6 p.m. on the evening before the scheduled collection day. Thank you for your cooperation.

  2. Tree Lighting Ceremony

    November 30, 2018, 6:00 PM @ Theater and Court Buildings

    Join the Mayor and City Council at our annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Frosty, Rudolph, and Santa will be there as we officially kick off the holiday season. Performances include the Deer Park High School Swing Choir, San Jacinto Elementary Choir, Art Park Singers, and Reaction. Photo opportunities with Santa will be at Patrick's Cabin. There will also be plenty of concessions and local vendors for holiday shopping.

    DPPL is joining National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO) as a Come Write In location. During November, we encourage aspiring novelists to come to the library and use the facility - wi-fi, chairs, and tables - to assist you in your writing. On Wednesdays during November, we will offer a writing space in the conference room, with refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library, from 1 PM - 5 PM. To register as a participant, please sign up at the Reference Desk or by calling 281-478-7208. For writers who sign up, we will award a NANOWRIMO mug to the person who writes the most words during November. Join us for our Kick-Off Event on Thursday, November 8 @ 7:00 PM to get some encouragement from Dr. Joanna Eleftheriou, Assistant Professor of Literature & Creative Writing at the University of Houston, Clear Lake. No registration is required for this program.

    Toddler Storytime is presented on Thursdays at 10:15 AM. Recommended for children up to 3 1/2 years old. Stories and activities during the 20-30 minute session are designed to encourage a love for books and language, increase attention span and develop basic social skills. Parents/Caregivers are required to stay with the toddler and encourage them to participate in the program.
