Keith Nelson began his career with the City of Deer Park in 2006. He holds a B.S. degree from Oklahoma State University, a M.A. degree from Pepperdine University, M.B.A. degree from the College of Notre Dame, a M.S. degree from Naval Postgraduate School, and a D.B.A. degree from Nova Southwestern University. He is a Certified Governmental Finance Officer, a Certified Financial Manager, and a Certified Management Accountant. Mr. Nelson is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, Government Finance Officers Association of Texas, the Association of Government Accountants, the National Association of Accountants, and the National Contract Management Association. He is also a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America and a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers. Mr. Nelson is a member of the Masonic Lodge.

As Director of Finance, Mr. Nelson is responsible for the operations and management of the Finance Department, Municipal Court, and Central Collections which encompasses the operations of billing and collecting for utility services and ad valorem taxes. The Finance deparment provides administrative management support while performing the functions of cash management, budget formulation and control, accounting, investment, and auditing.
