City Departments/Boards and Commissions
There
are approximately 30 volunteers serving on five Boards and Commissions
for the City of Deer Park. The members are appointed by the
City Council, and are required to be resident citizens while serving.
Their responsibilities, powers, terms of office, membership size,
qualifications, and meeting schedules vary for each. Citizens interested
in serving as vacancies arise may contact the City Secretarys office
at 281-478-7248 or by email at cityhall@deerparktx.org on how to
apply for a position.
Board of Health - Dr. Don Metz, Nader Naderi, Ron Crabtree - The Board of Health consists of three members, a licensed physician, the City Manager and a Civil Engineer. The duties of the Board are to be responsible for the overall health conditions for the City of Deer Park.
The
Library Board of Trustees - Lois Malone, Robert Erwin,
Allen Fousak, Jo Elaine Key, Reginald Knowles, Paulette Lawther,
Evelyn Massey. The Board formulates rules and regulations, subject
to approval by Council, in the orderly use and operation of the
City's Library facilities. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday
of each month at the Library at 5:30 p.m.
Planning
and Zoning Commission/Board of Adjustment - Ray Balusek,
Travis Jaggers, Bennie Matusek, Hal Anderson, Don Tippit -
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the first and third
Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of city
hall. Should a holiday fall on a regularly schedule meeting
date, the meeting is held the following Monday. The
Planning and Zoning Commission recommends changes on the Citys zoning
ordinances and has final approval on subdivision plans. All
five members of the Planning and Zoning Commission also serve as
the Board of Adjustment; taking action on proposed variances to
the zoning ordinance. There are two alternates to the Board of Adjustment,
Ryan Crawley, and Stan Garrett.
Recreation
Commission - Ivan Johnson, Ricky Kirkland,
Glenda Jo Keiffer, and Wayne Taylor - The Recreation Commission
consists of five members. Under the supervision of the City Manager,
the Recreation Commission shall provide, conduct and supervise public
playgrounds, athletic fields, recreation centers and other recreational
facilities and activities on any property owned or controlled by
the City. The Commission shall consult, advise and cooperate with
other groups concerned with providing recreation in and for the
City. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at the Community
Center at 6:00 p.m.
Senior
Citizen Commission - Dean Lawther, Rex Deshazo, Reba Kirkland,
Charles Garrison, Wayne Riddle, Joyce Walker and Walter Marsh
- The Senior Citizen Commission consists of seven members.
The Commission advises and recommends to the Council on all matters
concerning the improvement, enhancement and quality of life
for the senior citizens of Deer Park. Meetings are held bi-monthly
at city hall. |
