The Parks and Recreation department operates under the direction of Doug Burgess. Mr. Burgess began his career with the City of Deer Park in 1973. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin University and has completed post graduate work at the University of Houston. He is an active member of the National Recreation and Parks Association, the Texas Recreation and Parks Association, and the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. In our community he is a member of the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce, the Deer Park Rotary Club and serves as a City liaison in several youth organizations.
The department operates 4 recreational centers, 14 parks, 24 ball fields, an outdoor olympic-sized swimming pool with diving well, 6 lighted tennis courts, 2 outdoor racquetball courts, a sand volleyball court, a gym with 2 indoor racquetball courts, a full service weight room and a full size basketball court.

Administrative offices for Parks & Recreation are located in the Deer Park Community Center, located at 610 E. San Augustine. Office hours Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, excluding holidays. A mail slot in the door allows for drop off registration until 10pm Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 10am to 6pm. Payment Drop Box - The Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department has recently installed a Payment Drop-Off Box for our citizens to conveniently drop off payments to one of the many programs we have to offer.  The New site of the Drop-Off Box is in the Circle Drive in front of the Deer Park Community Center located at 610 E. San Augustine on the North Side of the Circle Drive.  The Payment Drop Off Box is open twenty-four (24) hours a day for your convenience to drop off items for the Department.  IF you have any questions or concerns please contact us at 281 478-2050.
