Public Works/Humane
The Humane division is responsible for all phases of animal control. This includes the operation and maintenance of the animal shelter and the enforcement of animal related ordinances.
The animal shelter is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8:00amto 5:00 pm. The shelter is located at 4213 Luella, next to College Park Elementary. Dogs and cats owned by residents must be licensed each year. License may be obtained in person at the Animal Shelter located at 4213 Luella. A valid rabies certificate must be presented at the time of purchase. The license fee is $5.00. If your pet becomes ill or is injured, you should call a veterinarian. Local veterinarians phone numbers are listed in the yellow pages under Veterinarians. If you have lost or found an animal, please report and provide a description of the animal to the Humane Division at 281-478-7274. If your pet has been impounded, the Humane Division will contact you if possible. There may be impoundment fees and a proof of a current rabies vaccination is required before release. It is unlawful for any individual to treat an animal in an inhumane manner.
