For the convenience of Deer Park residents, the Transfer Station, located at 610 Old Underwood Road, is open on Saturdays from 9AM to 4:30PM. There is no fee to use this facility; however, proof of residency must be provided in the form of a current water bill and a drivers license. The Transfer Station is unable to accept any large automotive parts, solvents or flammable liquids. Waste Oil Collection
Disposing
oil properly is a critical problem and people probably will not
stop dumping toxic waste until a convenient solution is derived. The Sanitation department has solved this problem by providing
an additional service to their curb side pick-up. The collection
trucks are now equipped with a waste oil repository to gain control
over hazardous waste, protect the environment and improve community
service.
-
Waste
oil is placed out along with the regular household garbage on
the homeowners two service.
-
Collection
crew arrives and collects waste oil.
-
Waste
oil is then placed in oil storage tank and allowed to drain
from the household container while the collection crew proceeds
to the next house.
-
Once
the oil container is drained, they are discarded in the rear
hopper and compacted along with the other household refuse.
-
Workers
replace homeowners waste oil containers with new one gallon
plastic containers with screw on tops to be used for future
oil storage and disposal.
Recycling Program
The City of Deer Park has a recycling program and invites everyone to participate. Collection bins are set up in the parking lot of the Deer Park Public Library for the disposal of tin, aluminum, plastic, glass, and newspapers. You can also dispose of your recyclables at the Transfer Station located at 610 Old Underwood Road. For additional information contact Public Works at 281-478-7253 or send us an email at cityhall@deerparktx.org
Brush, Limb and Heavy Trash Removal
Every Wednesday is reserved for heavy trash pickup. Occasionally the volume of heavy trash will require more than one day to service the whole city. In this case, the remainder of heavy trash will usually be picked up by Thursday. Items such as yard trash, tree limbs, broken and disregarded toys, small pieces of furniture, appliances should be placed behind the curb line for collection by 8 a.m. The idem should be boxed for easy pickup. Tree limbs should be no more than four (4) feet in length and smaller the six (6) inches in diameter and stacked neatly behind the curb-line. The city is not responsible for debris generated by privately contracted jobs. City residents may also transport heavy trash to the transfer station located at 610 Old Underwood Road during regular business hours. |
