1,200-acre site: San Jacinto Battleground (where Texas won independence from Mexico in 1836), San Jacinto Monument, museum & observation deck (taller than Washington Monument) the Battleship TEXAS, battle reenactments, slideshow.  All facilities are open daily with few exceptions.
