Compliance Dismissals
These dismissals have many terms and are not always a defendant’s right. These dismissals are valid if the defendant appears on or before the required appearance date and meets the terms.
Expired Driver’s License
- violation may be dismissed if you meet the following:
- Renew your license within 20 business days of the date you were charged or before first court appearance, whichever is later.
- Provide your new temporary license.
- Present the temporary license noted above with $20 (dismissal fee) no later than your court appearance date assigned by the charging officer.
Expired Vehicle Registration (License Plates)
- violation may be dismissed if you meet the following:
- Renew your registration within 20 business days of the date you were charged or before first court appearance, whichever is later.
- Provide a legible receipt of registration that clearly identifies the vehicle in violation.
- Present the receipt noted above with $20 (dismissal fee) no later than your court appearance date assigned by the charging officer.
No Valid Inspection Certificate
- if the inspection was expired for 60 days or less your violation may be dismissed if you meet the following terms:
- Renew your inspection within 20 business days of the date you were charged or before first court appearance, whichever is later.
- Provide a legible receipt of inspection that clearly identifies the inspected vehicle passes emissions and the payment of the required inspection fee.
- Present the receipt noted above with $20 (dismissal fee) no later than your court appearance date assigned by the charging officer.
Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility (Insurance)
- must be valid at the date and time the citation was issued. There is no fee for this dismissal.
Fail to Display Driver's License
- must provide proof the defendant had a current driver's license at the time the citation was issued. There is no fee for this dismissal.
Other Charges Eligible for Dismissal
The following charges are eligible for dismissal; however, proof of compliance must be submitted at the scheduled court date in court:
- Operation of Motorcycle without Seal: proof motorcycle was properly and correctly registered
- Wrong, Fictitious, or Unclean Plate: proof proper plates assigned to vehicle
- Failure to Change Name/Address on Driver's License: Texas driver's license with current name/address
- Defective Equipment: proof of repairs
- Defective Equipment: no turn indicator lights ( Proof of repairs
- Defective Muffler: proof of repairs
- Display Blue Lights: proof that lights have been removed
- Headlight Improper Location: proof that headlights have been properly installed
- Illegal Tail Lamps: proof that vehicle has proper / legal tail lamps
- No Proof of Rabies Vaccination: proof of vaccination
