City of Deer Park - Events Calendar

  1. Memorial Day - City Services Closed

    May 31, 2021, All Day

    City facilities will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. There will not be curbside collection of rubbish on this day. Service will resume on your next regular collection day following the holiday. Garbage should not be placed out for pick up earlier than 6 p.m. on the evening before the scheduled collection day. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Use the library's Rosetta Stone subscription (see deerparktx.gov/library and hover your mouse over E-Library) and then meet us virtually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning January 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. for practice conversation.   2. Beginning Spanish - Virtual

    May 19, 2021, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ Deer Park Public Library

    Deer Park Public Library will host a beginning Spanish class starting Monday, January 11 and meeting online Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. The class combines two ways of learning - practice conversation with other learners in a small online class, and use of the Rosetta Stone program available on the library website. To join the beginning Spanish class, please register by contacting the library at 281-478-7208 or library@deerparktx.org.

  3. Friends Summer Book Sale

    May 20, 2021, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Deer Park Public Library

    The Friends of the Deer Park Public Library will hold a Summer Book Sale Thursday - Saturday, May 20 to May 22. Come shop a wide array of adult fiction and non-fiction books, paperbacks, magazines, as well as children and YA titles. Items will be restocked daily so check back in! The Summer Booksale will feature a Grab a Bag - Fill a Bag style sale. The Friends will have bags available for a suggested donation of $2 (small bag) or $5 (large bag). Membership renewal and update opportunities will be available. This booksale will be cash only with no change being made. The Friends of the Library support programs for children, teens, and adults and provide prizes for the Summer Reading Programs. Following the 2012 expansion, the Friends purchased and dedicated "The Reading Tree" for children of all ages to enjoy. In 2015, the Friends installed a built-in display case to commemorate the Library's 50th anniversary.

  4. Outdoor Storytime

    May 20, 2021, 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM @ Deer Park Public Library

    Beginning April 8th, 2021 Storytime will alternate between outdoor in person sessions and live virtual sessions on Facebook. Outdoor sessions will be held in the field behind the library. In case of bad weather, Storytime will be broadcast Live on Facebook. Storytime is designed to encourage a love for books and language and incorporates books, fingerplays, and songs to promote interest in reading and lifelong learning. Caregivers are encouraged to watch with the children and encourage participation. Please stay in touch on social media for the latest updates.
