Monthly LEPC Meeting

Featured Friday: Introduction to Astronomy

Mark your calendars and join us for Featured Friday! Dan Roy (Education and Outreach Coordinator of the Houston Astronomy Society and lead behind the monthly program 'Astronomy in the park') and Khady Adama Ndao (NASA Eclipse Ambassador) will give a jointly discussion on the topic "Introduction to Astronomy and safe viewing of the coming eclipses" Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

Beginner Spanish

The Beginner Spanish class - Fall Session begins on September 13th and runs through October 18th. The class meets In-Person every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. For additional practice, use the Library's Rosetta Stone program. You can find this program at www.deerparktx.gov/library -- hover over Research and find Rosetta Stone under the Online Courses. Toddler Storytime

Stories and activities are designed to encourage a love for books and language, increase attention spans and develop basic social skills. Parents/caregivers are required to stay with the toddler and encourage them to participate in the program.

Preschool Storytime

Preschool Storytime is recommended for children 3 1/2 - 6 years old. Storytime incorporates books, fingerplays, songs, and activities to promote interest in reading and lifelong learning. Children listen to stories and participate in group activities.

Thursday Matinée Movie

On select Thursdays we invite you to stop by after school for a movie & popcorn! The movie will begin at 4:00 pm. Call 281-478-7208 to ask about movie titles.

Microsoft Word: Resumes

Learn how to create a basic resume with simple formatting using templates. The class covers how to save resumes in different file formats and the different types of resumes. PREREQUISITE: Basic Microsoft Word knowledge is required. Space is limited so registration is required. Register by phone or in person.

Career Resources Class

Learn how the library resources can help you explore career opportunities, search for jobs, prepare for the interview, and more! Space is limited so registration is required. Register by phone or in person.

Maxwell: Gator Country Day Trip

Join Maxwell Adult Center at Gator Country Adventure Park where more than 450 American alligators, crocodiles, and reptiles live! Additionally, they house various mammals that have been rescued, donated, or abandoned. Following Gator Country, we will head to eat lunch at Tia Juanita's Fish Camp. The price of lunch and extra activities are not included; please arrive at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center by 8:45 AM.

Teen Social

This social is an evening just for teens to come together, play games and mingle by the fire. This is a free event but registration is required.

Open Play Gym @ DPISD North Campus

Beginning September 11, DPPARD will be having open gym basketball play on Monday and Wednesdays at the Deer Park High School North Campus Boys Gym located at 402 Ivy Ave (behind the school by the stadium). Participants will need to bring their own ball. No food or drink allow in facility. Mondays and Wednesdays DPHS- North Boys Gym 6pm – 8pm September 11 – December 20

Geocaching Puzzle

Can you find all the puzzle pieces and put them together before the time runs out? If you think you can, join us at Dow Park for Geocaching with a twist. You may buddy up in teams of 3 or go solo.

Maxwell: Bayou Bend Collections & Gardens Day Trip

Join us on a Day Trip to Bayou Bend Collections and Gardens as we see how Ima Hogg turned her home into a museum. There will be a self-guided tour with some walking and stairs. We will stop for lunch, price not included. Please arrive at the Jimmy Burke Activity by 8:45AM.

Art in the Park

What better way to relax than to come to our beautiful Dow Park and paint with us. We will provide the supplies and you only need to bring your imagination. This is a free event but registration is required.

Maxwell: Moody Gardens Aquarium & The Spot

Dive into the oceans of the world to visit one of the largest aquariums in the Southwest. This 1.5-million gallon aquarium is full of creatures with new and interactive opportunities all along the way. Following the aquarium, we will enjoy lunch at The Spot, a family-friendly beachfront restaurant. Price of lunch not included, please arrive at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center by 9:15AM.

Maxwell: Foodie Friday

Calling all Foodies! We will be hosting a class to teach you how to make a sweet or savory item to take home on one Friday of every month! All supplies are included. We will be walking you step-by-step on how to make food. We will also have light refreshments during class. There is a $10 fee for each of the classes. September - BLT Pasta Salad

Teen Archery

Ever thought of picking up Archery? Well, it's never too late to try. We will provide everything you need to test it out, including instructors.
