Emergency Management
Mission Statement
The City of Deer Park's Office of Emergency Management's (O.E.M.) mission is to save lives and protect property as well as prevent damage to the environment from disasters both natural and man-made. We work to accomplish this through development of continuing programs of education, communications, coordination, planning, training and exercising, for "all hazards" through all four phases of emergency management - preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.
Responsibilities
The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating the City of Deer Park's preparation for and response to emergency or disaster situations internally and externally both natural and man-made. The term emergency means a set of circumstances which demand immediate action to protect life, preserve public health or essential services, or protect property. Disaster means the situation is beyond the capabilities of the responding jurisdictions or organizations.
Services Provided
The Office of Emergency Management provides planning, training, exercises, and educational programs and activities designed to provide our customers, internal and external, with the ability to prepare for, cope with, and recover from the effects of local emergencies or disasters. This is achieved through information and resource exchange and working in partnership with the public and private sectors, as well as all levels of government.
The City of Deer Park is now recognized by the National Weather Service as a Storm Ready Community!
In November 2021, the City of Deer Park began the process to apply for the Storm Ready Certification. The City of Deer Park reviews notifications from the National Weather Service, Harris County Flood Control and the Texas Division of Emergency Management. The Office of Emergency Management disseminates this information through social media and the Everbridge notification system.
The City of Deer Park has transitioned to a new emergency notification system. We're moving our communications to Everbridge to improve our safety response in the event of an incident. We encourage everyone to sign up to receive the latest emergency information directly to your phone, email, or via text. You can sign up online by clicking the link (http://bit.ly/4gaxWpt) or by simply texting 77536 to 888777.
Please note: If you were previously registered with CodeRED, you do not need to re-register for Everbridge. We have transferred the contacts from our old system into the new system for your convenience.
