Museum Cabinets

Throughout the City of Deer Park, visitors will find cabinets filled with historical documents, photos, and other items that shed some light on our area’s history. The items on display were largely made available through citizen donations and continuous outreach by the Historical Committee. 

At the Municipal Court and Theater Building, located at 1302 Center Street, you’ll find items such as original deeds and surveys from the city’s establishment, photos of early families, information on Simeon H. West - Deer Park’s founder, and more. In 2017, a set of 8 letters written by Simeon H. West from California in the 1850’s and 1860’s were added to the collection of display items. The letters describe the hardships, the Gold Rush era, the beauty and politics of California, as well as the politics before the Civil War. 

The museum cabinets at the Deer Park Public Library, located at 3009 Center Street, focus on the city’s sesquicentennial celebration.

Stop by the Deer Park Visitors Center in the Economic Alliance building at 203 Ivy Avenue and you’ll find special artifacts from the San Jacinto Monument and the Battleship Texas.

Museum Coming Soon!

As part of the City's ongoing commitment to preserve Deer Park's rich history, construction of a new 2,000 square foot city museum is underway. This museum will serve as a central hub for the city's artifacts, documents, and photographs, offering a comprehensive showcase of our community's history and heritage. Designed to become a cultural landmark, the museum will foster pride and deepen the understanding of Deer Park's past for future generations. The groundbreaking ceremony for the museum took place on March 20, 2025.
